Violin

I make several violin models based on the great instruments of Antonio Stradivari:  a "long pattern" based on a 1692 Strad, and a "golden period" model from 1715.  These violins are appreciated for their light weight and quick response under the bow.  Fiddlers and violinists alike will appreciate the instruments' playability coupled with a reserve of tone and volume, for dynamic musical contexts from the session to the symphony. I plan to introduce a Guarneri model in the future, and continue to appreciate and study many of the historic Italian instruments.

For musicians who cross over to play mandolin and fiddle equally well, I offer the ultimate instrument set: a mandolin and violin made from matched tonewoods with matched details in a double case.

Sound is the ultimate criteria by which my work is judged. In this respect, rather than aiming for a specific historical sound, I hope to offer musicians a sound that is open and responsive to their particular needs. I hope to provide musicians with a palette of sound which is broad, flexible and dynamic in tone and volume. Combined with excellent playability and setup, these instruments are at home in any musical context.
