Due model (two-point)
My Due model mandolin fits in between the F and A models in terms of complexity, aesthetic and tone. The two blocks which form the structure under the points and the bends in the ribs make for a stiffer rib structure than the A, giving a quick response and tone that, but for the lower air volume, approaches that of the F model. The corner shape and inlaid purfling were designed to reflect classic Italian violin design with parallel curves and bee-sting purfling mitres. The duality of design stretches through the body of the instrument, into the headstock and it's "keyhole" apex. With a choice of of fine tonewoods and bracing patterns, this model can sing it's way through a violin partita, or hammer out Monroe-style downstroke phrases over a full Bluegrass band with volume to spare.
