My A is generally based on that of Lawrence Smart, but is constructed in the violin-style, with overhanging edge and inlaid purfling to protect the edge. This model is lightweight and yet balanced. With simple curves and no extra body blocks, the A produces a woody, singing tone with good bass response and sustain. Through wood choice and bracing patterns this model can be voiced to the musician's needs for classic A-style bassiness and sustain, or a higher-midrange pop and quick response that turns heads in a bluegrass jam.
