Studio
After five years spent working in a small studio at our family home in Burlington, VT, I moved the shop to the Burlington Waterfront. The Wing Building is a small, modern building located just south of Union Station, along the train tracks and bike path, and within sight of the beautiful Lake Champlain.
My shop is divided into three rooms, a "machine room" or workshop, office/storage, and studio. The workshop is where the the wood really flies, and holds my big workbench and glue-up area as well as bandsaw, drill press, jointer and my prized Lie-Nielsen hand planes which ensure good joinery throughout your Campanella instrument. Stored tonewood weighs down the benches, and my little but mighty Fein shop-vac keeps it all clean.
The office is dedicated to keeping my orders organized, detailed notes on new builds, and research on traditional and modern methods of instrument building, repair, and restoration. The main studio looks out on Union Station and the Burlington Shipyard, with Lake Champlain in the distance. This room is where all varnish, setup and final adjustments take place, and has amazing light from the north-west through a bank of windows on a curved wall. This is also the place to try out an amazing mandolin or violin when you come to visit the shop. Please contact me to schedule an appointment.
